No. If you are trying to get a thinner section of string over the saddle, you need to buy taper core strings.

Not over the saddle........the very end, where the circular nut is attached, is too wide to fit in the slots.......I knew this would be a problem, I just really want to use these strings.

File the bridge, not the string.

What strings are you using? Are you trying to string your bass BEAD?

Below the bridge? I don't get it.

Here's an illustration of the parts of a bass. Maybe this will help you, help us, help you.

No sorry I guess it is the bridge actually.....i was confusing bridge and saddles for some reason. The strings are not tapered, and therefore will not fit in the proper grooves. I'm not sure if just leaving it sticking 1 cm out of the groove will effect the sound or do any damage, I don't care if it looks stupid.

If that won't fly, or if I can, I would like to widen the grooves that hold the string....I will probably keep using this type of string for awhile.

I've posted the same problem for my Conklin GT5 - cannot fit the B string into the groove of the bridge. What I would have to do is either file the bridge or find a music store that sells lose B strings that are taperwound/tapercore. I've called my local Sam Ash and GC and they do not have loose B strings that are tapered. And there aren't any mom & pop music stores in Queens NY that I know of. So I may resort to filing the bridge pretty soon.

File the bridge. It will be fine. You might be able to get an extra saddle off Ebay to switch out later if you start using a thinner string.

Do you mean the hole where you feed the string into the bridge? I've had a problem with that before. Just drilled it out a little bit.
