It's too thick at the base of the string where it sits in the peg on the end of the bass....i was told by a good friend that I should file it, as that's what he has to do for his........how exactly should I file it? Can anyone clue me in? Thanks alot |

The strings are not tapered, and therefore will not fit in the proper grooves. I'm not sure if just leaving it sticking 1 cm out of the groove will effect the sound or do any damage, I don't care if it looks stupid.
If that won't fly, or if I can, I would like to widen the grooves that hold the string....I will probably keep using this type of string for awhile. |

What I would have to do is either file the bridge or find a music store that sells lose B strings that are taperwound/tapercore. I've called my local Sam Ash and GC and they do not have loose B strings that are tapered. And there aren't any mom & pop music stores in Queens NY that I know of. So I may resort to filing the bridge pretty soon. |
