Need help finding strings for a P-bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys!

I have a question for the strings forum today!
I have a Squier Standard P-bass special with a P-neck added on (So it has a single coil P-bass pickup in the sweet spot and a jazz pickup at the bridge.)

I'd like to get a new set of strings for it, and I love that Roger Waters type bass tone (With the tone knob all the way up) out of a P-bass with a little bit of high-end and punch, with a little bit of umph. I also would like to have higher tension, but it's not required. I though of buying some flatwounds, but I'm not sure. Any questions?

I believe Waters uses or used Roto flats.

Rotosound strings in general have the highest tension on the market, especially the Monel Flatwounds...as far as that Roger Waters sound goes, I'm pretty sure he had a split coil pickup. At one point he had a Precision with an EB-0 pickup AND a split coil.
