Question Need help with "floppy low b"

Sign in to disble this ad
Before you flame me i read all of the resources and my search turned up no deffinate results.

So i just got my first 5 string, The tension in the low b is something to be desired. It is a squire affinity J V, It uses a .125 gauge b string stock. What I'm wondering is could i get a higher tension by running a .130 gauge b. what brand string would give me the best tension (i want something similar to the rest of my strings which as elixir lights), I do not mind the tone of the elixirs but I'm more concerned about tension then tone in this case.

Go to at least .130 non tapered B string. I use a .135 on my Elixier sets, but they are kinda hard to find. Just Strings sells single strings,so try there.
