Need Help String Selecting

here's my problem: I do bits of luthier work (just starting out, not too shabby but not excellent yet)... I got an acoustic bass guitar from a dumpster and just finished fixing it.

the big question: What kind of strings in general am I supposed to use? after that, any reccomendations?
