need more punchy strings for my fretless

Sign in to disble this ad
hello, i recently bought a fretless bass fron another tb member and while i love it to pieces im not a huge fan of the strings. they seem tiny under my fingers and have no brightness to them. It has the same Dr Hi-beams on it as when i bought it two months ago.

currently on my fretted i am using rotosound rotobass 105-45 and i love the tone that i get out of them.

would it make sense to use the same strings on my fretless or would i be too hard on the fingerboard?

it also might have to do with the pickup difference
SD vintage jazz (fretted) and Bartolini passive jazz(fretless)

Check out GHS Pressure wound strings they are much smoother but still brite and punchy and ron't kill your fret board

i have the ROTO BASS strings on my Jazz Bass and the same set on my Pedulla Pentabuzz...but the Pedulla has a coated fingerboard so using the Rotosound strings doesn't kill it.
but for a fretless you should try DR, LABELLA SLAPPERS, DEAN MARKLEY (nickel steel are ok) or any different strings that are smoother then the Rotosound...

Anyone tried the Elites nickel strings? I like their steel strings on my fretted bass and I'm thinking of trying the nickel on my fretless Jazz with a rosewood fingerboard.
