Need some string advice

So after changing my set of DR Lo-Riders on my L2000 after 6 months or so I realized that I could not stand the brightness and zing of the new DRs and immediately put my old set back on. Even though a fresh set of Lo-Riders on my Jazz was sonic heaven, it doesn't seem to be my thing with the L2k. I could just break them in again but I would like to find a better solution. Most people are probably going to suggest flats, but I have tried flats before (Rotosounds, only flats my local GC carried) and while the sound was great I could not get used to the feel. So I guess my question is if there is a set of flats that have more of a roundwound feel or if there is a set of roundwounds that can give you that deep thump right out of the box. Nickle rounds don't do it for me either as I find they get to muddy on the L2K.
