I'm looking for some new strings for my bass. I play in a pop-punk/punk/metal sort of band. I'm looking for something that doesn't have that bright sounding clank when it hits the fret or when you play with a pick. I know it will have that to an extent, but what are some strings that would be play nicely for those types of music, reduce the clank, yet have a nice warm, full tone?

If you have clank, raise your action. Round wound strings have lots of hi and low frequency information, they sound hi fidelity. If the bang against the frets, you get klang. You want more middy sound try flats. I don't care for them. Great if you are playing old Beatle Songs or Motown but I like having the ring of a round wound.
