Need twangy roundwounds, please.

Hello, I am still a 11 month old baby in the world of music, and I have a question. I don't think this is truly worthy of discussion as a thread is supposed to be, but could someone answer this question for me? I want a set of 6 string LOUD, twangy roundwoundy ness for a band that plays mostly stuff like Skidrow, Foo Fighters, and Switchfoot (no jam songs ): .) I will be putting the C on a 5 string and if I ever decide to use the B It'll be ready... Anyways what is a nice twangy loud, halfway decent as far as price goes, set for a 6-string? Thank you all knowing ones. *worships*

any good nickel-plated roundwound will do fine.

one is not going to be "louder" or really "twangier" than another; it's more the difference between new stings and old, and more about the bass and the rig anyway.

Typically, stainless steel strings are brighter than nickels, but any new rounds, nickel or SS can zing. I would recommend heavier strings re: volume and general presence as much as type. Rotosounds are balsy, plus there is something unique about the way those strings sound. (albeit I haven't played them in 20 years, a little rough on the fingers, if memory serves). DR "High-Beams" are also known for their bright zingyness.

As much as I don't like them, Elixers can give you good twang, and they last s pretty long time. I had them on my SR500. That thing was too darn bright until the day I changed them (a year later). They lost their original zing after not too long, but always kept a bright tone. I prefer strings that go dead real pretty, though. So now I use other stuff.

Great suggestion, but get them cheaper here:
DR HI-BEAM - 6-String Set

Registering as a TB user will knock a few bucks off the price!

Thanks, but I think I'm going to go with the Elixers.
