Never buy Eleca strings.

These were the only strings my local shop have, so I thought I'd try them out, basic 45-105. $21. "High Quality"...my ass.

They don't stay in tune, they constantly buzz, they mislabeled the strings, the A string was in the D string sleeve, the G string buzzed without touching anything, and snapped because it wouldn't tune to F.

I walked an hour, back and forth to get these horrible, horrible strings. I want my money back.

And they are going to say to you if you bring them back that all sales om strings are final. Why a mom & pop in this day and age would further drive the final nail into it's coffin with crap like this, I will never know. Certainly not the case with all, but save for one, every independantly owned guitar shop I have ever dealt with has put the customer in a position to lose. It's buyer beware. Give me idiot clerks and selection over "Electa" strings and some balding twit with an inferiority complex anyday.

Even major retail companies will tell you the same thing. The only thing you can do is call the manufacturer and tell them what's going on and unfortunately they'll just send you more strings but your not going to get your money back

I know I'm not going to get my money back, but I've been saving up for a new amp, and desperately needed new strings. And dear God were these awful.

I never bother with the no-name strings. As you've discovered, cheap usually isn't, in the long run.

I usually pay $26 for Billy Sheehan Rotosounds (The gauge difference is really noticable), so I thought a $6 different wouldn't be that bad.

God was I wrong.

You're in San Diego? Which local shop? You know there's a GC in La Mesa, Guitar Trader in Clairemont and, of course, my favorite, Bass San Diego in Sorrento Valley.

I don't have a car.
And it's just some music store out here in Tierrasanta next to a Vons and a Pub.

I tried getting some friends to drive me, I have money for gas, but no one was willing.

Are you old enough to have a bank account and debit card? If so you can order strings online for much less and have them delivered to your door thus also saving you a trip to a store that charges more.

You could take a bus to Guitar Trader. It's just a couple miles down Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
