New 8-String On The Way - What Strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, let me get this outta the way up front:

I rodered a ROGUE LX408 from MF yesterday. It was TOO cheap to pass up. Yes, I own some BEHRINGER gear too. Here's my question:

What 8-string sets (if any) have you guyz used and can recommend for me to either buy or stay away from?

I've done a bit of research and have found that GHS, D'A, and SIT have sets available at a few different places. One reviewer has already mentioned that the LONG scale D'A XLs aren't LONG enuff to mount string-thru (on this particular model bass). I am wondering if this is common with 8-string sets or the D'As are one-off in that respect.

The LX408 is advertised as 34" scale. Since I don't have it in my hands yet, I am unable to make any measurements. The pics at MF however, do appear to show some appreciable, additional space beyond the bridge saddles to the ball-ends.

Link to pics at MF:

Any advice/opinions from 8-Banger owners would be appreciated.

THANKS!

I have a Brice which is virtually the same thing; I use the D'Addario set because they can go string-through-body.
