New Chromes 5-string set - dead B-string?

Sign in to disble this ad
Like the title says, I just switched to Chromes, and I'm loving them except for the B string. All the rest of the strings are very punchy, but the B just sounds kind of thin and wimpy. I don't remember the old strings sounding like that (this is on a new-to-me bass).

Anybody gotten a bad B-string in a set before (or any other string for that matter)? Just figured I'd ask before I went to the trouble of tracking down a new string or buying a new set.

My B-string when I had Chromes on my Affinity Jazz V was fine; sounded mean and nasty (the good way) when I dropped below E. Contact D'Addario. I've heard they have excellent customer service.

D'addario CS took care of me. I bought 2 sets of super long Chromes that were mispacked at the factory and were standard length. Only the B and E strings were too short, but I was sent 2 new complete sets for my troubles .

Be ready to mail them your B string and I'm sure you'll get a free set.
