New chromes

i have a stingray classic 2010

should i go through body i bought extra long so the wrapping would not touch the nut

or should i go on top????????

I doubt it will make a difference in sound.

i am concerned about the string being strong enough to go through the body and hold up in hard playing situations.

Shouldn't matter a bit. If you can install your strings properly, you won't have a problem either way.

I wouldn't string any flats through the body, myself. The difference in sound is practically nonexistent, anyway.

I've strung Chromes though the body with no problems at all...other flats too.

I say top load IMO there is no difference in tone and you don't damage (bend) the strings as you will going thru body. I have done both with Chromes and for now on will always top load. It is easy and doesnt require special strings and no bending of the strings.

If you have the standard 34 inch scale set, then go with top load. I wouldn't go with body thru using Chromes unless they are the "Extra Long" sets. I have found the standard sets have the silk wrappings actually going past the nut over the fretboard on my body thru and wound up shaving the silk off that area with a razor.

Yes i do have the extra long set and am traveling 150 miles on wed to get it set up by Spalding who is a well known luthier
on the west coast so it should be worth it

just got back with my new chromes installed and thankx for all your help it plays like a dream and the sound is , well awesome!!

the extra longs worked well for string through so again thankx to all
