New colored DR strings (pink, silver, green)

Sign in to disble this ad
I guess I didn't get the memo -- as I was ordering from Juststrings.com I noticed that DR has added these new colors to the blue, red and black they offered before. The website also shows a pic with yellow and a different shade of blue.

So, anybody strung up with these yet? Pics please! The pink ones would look mega-hot on my white bass but I'm too spoiled by the nickel lo-riders to switch.

Saxnbass had pink ones on his black Sterling.

Very sexy.

Personally, I think the pink ones look tight as hell and want to get a set for my LeCompte, but I'm just not sure whether it would be worth it, because I want Hi-Beams, and if that sound can't be reached with the Pink Strings, they're not worth it.

I think the colored ones basically are Hi-beams with a coating.

You suppose this will last about as long as the tires with the colored stripes (for those who wanted to make colored tire smoke) did?

I have DR black beauties on my backup bass, and I like them. Downside is the coating wears off, and then you're left with splotchy silver and whatever color bass strings. So if you're really doing it for style points, you have to replace your strings well before they're worn out just to keep the color right. I'll be putting hi-beams on that bass when one of the black strings break.

I'm a bass player not a bass fashion model.

I tried the reds. Was excited about the contrast against my white bass with black neck. I wasn't overly impressed with their lifespan and they looked like a banded snake when the color started to wear off. I've since decided to pass on gimicky colors.

Mine seem to last. I've had the reds on an all black bass and blacks on my ovation. Sure the coating wears through here and there, but nothing really noticeable from the stage. The audience seems to dig the colors. It's my little "Bootsy" moment.

The DR colors are really good strings, people said that its just kinda a show off thing but the sound I got from them was awesome. I'm putting Brand new Red Devils on my Black EB-3 Bass, Very hot! Ill post pics once I get the strings in.

DR Hot Pink Strings

I just got the DR Hot Pink strings for my bass.
To be honest, they're more of a purple then a pink but they're still pretty awesome.

I've only had them on for a week or so, but they sound good.
Although the fact that I've only been playing for a month or so may affect my opinion on what sounds good.

Am I the only member to think that silver-coated strings are quite possibly the most redundant product EVAR and more of a rip-off than Ed Roman cubed?

Not if you want the coated DR strings without a funky colour! I dig the coated strings and they have solved my acid hands problem. One of my basses won't look that great with coloured strings. I'm trying to track down a set of the silvers for that bass.

I had dr black beauties on my stingray, but they broke in about a month, way too flimsy for me.

I'm getting some DR's for my electric guitar. Can't wait; I'm way over-due for string changes on the guitar.
