I think these are definitely worth a shot and they are priced pretty good...and don't forget to register as a TB user on his site to get even better pricing....VIP has its benefits Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky Bass Strings from Bass Strings Online | I think they are a little pricey at $31 for a 5 string set. I can get a set of DR's a little cheaper. Let's hope they last longer than regular slinkys. |

Cobalt costs about 1.5 times the cost of Nickel.
Nickel is currently trading at $9.59/lb
Cobalt is currently trading at $14.70/lb
So it is a more expensive metal. I do not know how easy it is to work with to create wire out of. Not sure how much of the string is going to be cobalt, if its just the wrap wire or what.
But pretty interesting...

I know lots of bassists that use them. I just have never been fond of them and mainly because they die really quickly.

I'm sure I'll try these some time, but only having one bass (and I have a like-new set of Ernie Ball Slinky 5s in my gig bag), I don't know when I'll get around to it.
