I like the "soft and silky to the touch" part especially. If that's true, I am going to be all over these things.

Hope they don't use Cobalt-60. Anyway, it would be worth putting a set on any of my testing bass guitars.

Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky Bass Strings from Bass Strings Online
I think they are a little pricey at $31 for a 5 string set. I can get a set of DR's a little cheaper. Let's hope they last longer than regular slinkys.

Musicman is always trying new things which I respect but I have always thought their strings were awful. I am not sure if I will try these or not.

I am always one to investigate things so I have been looking at costs of Cobalt as a metal.

Cobalt costs about 1.5 times the cost of Nickel.

Nickel is currently trading at $9.59/lb
Cobalt is currently trading at $14.70/lb

So it is a more expensive metal. I do not know how easy it is to work with to create wire out of. Not sure how much of the string is going to be cobalt, if its just the wrap wire or what.

But pretty interesting...

I am in a weird minority in the fact that I really like their strings.

I wouldn't say you are in the minority at all. Ernie Ball sells TONS of strings. I know lots of bassists that use them. I just have never been fond of them and mainly because they die really quickly.

If I could have a string that keeps the new Slinky sound for more than a week or two I'd be a very happy person.

Oddly enough, that's what I like about them.

They are not out yet, they come out at the end of the month. I wonder how there are going to stack up against sadowsky blues

Meh... Not that impressed to be honest. The tone seems too... Airy and generic are the only things that come to mind. Interested to see what other TB's have to say once they get their hands on them though.

I just got mine delivered yesterday from MF, I'll post a review once I put them on and play them for a bit.

They are out. Plenty of people on the EB forums have them and have posted impressions.

My wedding band is made of cobalt! I'm more of a flats guy now, though.. I'm sure I'll try these some time, but only having one bass (and I have a like-new set of Ernie Ball Slinky 5s in my gig bag), I don't know when I'll get around to it.
