I got my bass setup with Elixer strings, I have no idea which set of strings they are but I know they are the coated strings and they were $40. These things feel fantastic, they're smooth and very easy to play. Sadly they're .100 gauge strings tuned to Drop C so they are a bit buzzy and floopy but I love playing my Schecter again. These beat the crap outta my DRs.

I love elixirs. They stay very bright for very long.

Have you tried them on a P, or Jazz bass?

Only basses I've tried em on are my Schecter and the stock Ibanez basses. I'd assume they'd play the same on any other bass and make the bass sound great.

If you're going to drop that, low you might consider buying an added Elixir B-string from Juststrings.com. It's pretty light, IIRC (like, .125 ), so it should be the perfect gauge for that tuning.

I love Elixir strings on my American P deluxe bass (one with the humbucker) they are so rich and fatt with a nice shine to them. Real good for classic rock and Pop music great for direct recording. I like DR's on my Ibanez for slap and funk.

Sadly I just had it set up, and I don't wana ruin the set up by changing the string.

A tech actually set it up to play in drop C with strings that light? Doesn't sound like he's got his head on straight...

I play D-G-C-F tuning with the heavy Elixer set (.105 to .50) and I think that it is already on the edge (34" scale that is). Since Elixer doesn't have .110 the choice is between a floopy .105 or a stiff .125.
A good off topic advice: learn to do your own set up, it saves money and after some experimentation, you sure will find the setup you realy wanted.
