New La Bella Flats, E and G sound duller than A and D. Am I missing something?

I had a similar issue with some D'addario Chromes a while back and it was resolved when I replaced the duller ones (in that case, an A and a G) with strings from another set.

Is it possible that it may be something other than a manufacturers defect? I emailed La Bella, but now Im wondering if there is some esoteric flatwound setup issue I need to know about. I just ditched rounds, good riddance, lol.

The dullness is consistent throughout the range of notes, on both the "E" and "G" strings. This is a P Bass with a bridge that allows for both "string through the body" and "string through the bridge" options. I have the strings going through the body.

Shame, you can really tell how great these strings sound, especially compared to the D'addario Chromes, to my ears. Something about those Chromes bugged me. They sounded dead and boring and didnt 'pop' under my fingers the way I like them to.

This is my first post, hello everyone.
