New Life Round wounds
here,s a tip for like New strings again.ive been playin with flats for a couple years gonna be using rounds again soon so i thought i would share this tip.when i first got my Jazz it came with rounds they soon got dead and very flat sounding tried something i read about boiling them it worked for maybe one gig dead sounding soon after.i put a new set on my bass and do this with the dead strings. i get a big glass jar with a big lid i buy a bottle of Methyl Alchohol about 5 or 6 Bucks roll your strings just like you would to put them in the package they come in put them in the jar put enough Methyl Alchohol to completely cover all the strings and leave them over night in the morning swish the strings around in the jar leave them again til the end of the day.Pull them out of the jar with a set of tongs place them on a rag pat them down abit unravel them and wipe them down good and i promise you will say wow there like new again nice and bright with full sustain again. What i do is once the new set i put on gets all full of dirt and sweat i put the renewed strings on and soak the dirty ones i keep 2 sets alternating til you want Brand new ones again.I still have the Alchohol in a jar from a couple years ago LOL.Best 5 bucks you will ever spend ...Terry:bassist:
