new string help buy this weekend

Sign in to disble this ad
so i bought a used peavey cirrus(5er) and i cant get over it. im thinking about playing an open mic on monday but i want new strings. actually im thinking about buying a 6-string set and playing eadgc on monday and having the option of a b-string when i need it(in b4 "buy a six-string". no money). anyway, i love strings that are on it already but i want to try some things with the c-string. i know this is probably an annoying question but how can i find out what strings are on there? i dont have a camera, sorry. theyre pretty plain. just silver strings, no silk, and gold berings. i have no way of measuring them. i know im not realy helping much. i just love the action. i dont know if its just cause of the bass it self or the strings too. so, any way you can help? or any suggestions on getting strings that are nice and loose?

...and how do you change the title? i just realized i wrote "buy". then again it could be a play on words considering i would be buying strings this weekend...

Nickel is shinier and smoother, stainless steel is grayer and a little more rough.

+1 to Parabolic

I have a Peavey Cirrus USA 6-string that came strung with nickels if that helps at all, but buying it used adds another variable of course!

As far as a C-string goes, I think .032 is a fairly common guage. I'd suggest starting there.

Another note: The Cirrus series all have a 35" scale, so when you buy strings, be aware that some are wound differently. Because I use D'Addario EXLs, I have to special order Super Longs or they won't fit properly in the nut.
