New strings = New Tinging Noise

Ok so heres my situation, I recently purchased a set of Ernie Ball Hybrid's for my bass.

I put them on, and not so much when I use my fingers, but when I use a pick, I get a metally tinging noise, its hard to explain what it is, but it never happened before, and I don't know what it is.

It also makes it on the fretboard, I know that theres the regular fretboard noises, but these are different

Are they a bigger gauge then you usualy use? You probably need to raise your action alittle. Get a 1.5mm allen wrench and turn the set screws on the bridge a quarter to a half turn and that should be enough.

I'm not sure of the gauge of my old strings, there the stock ones that came on it (Fender Standard P Bass) but the new strings are .45, .65, .85, .105

that seems to be a pretty normal guage, but i would agree with spaz and say you should raise the action, that seems to always temporarily (if not permanently) fix buzzing and "tinging noises".

Have you changed strings on this bass before? Brand new strings always have an extra bright sound to them for the first week or so, and then they should mellow out a bit.
