New strings.. Horrid buzz... Not on frets... HELP

Ive just fitted my pbass with a new set of rotosound swingbass strings. All tuned up (except for some bloody reason the D snapped oh joy

happened to a mate with same strings actually)

well the A string for somereason is giving of a horrid buzz and its not on the frets. It shows up most when i use a pick. Is VERY noticeable.

Urgent help please

could it be the nut btw? if so how can i fix this?

Well i gave up trying to fix it i blieve i could of cut the string too short... maybe.

If youve any ideas as to what it could of been plz message

Altho thru this i have discovered a new setup for me which seems to sound nice.

Rotosound E Rumbly
Fender A Smooth but low
Fender D Smooth but high
Roto G Bitey (is that a word? lol)
