Hey yall...I just got a warwick streamer stage 2...and I love it ...not crazy about the strings that was put on it by the owner ....so in yalls opinion ...what would yall go with ....I play country music ...and I want that ballsy bass sound with the growl ....I'm not the typical country bass player ...I'm pretty aggressive when I play ...I also play with fingers and a pick ....thanks

After trying most strings on my Warwick Streamer, I've got two favorites:

Rotosound Swing Bass Nickels
These make my Warwick sound like a Warwick should. Nice and snappy.

GHS Progressives
These make my Warwick sound like a freight train. They are way louder on my W than any other string, period. Very thick and punchy.

Right now I'm using the Rotosounds. I get both of them from Welcome to Bass Strings Online - Your Custom Bass String Shop...

+1 on the Rotosound swing bass nickels!! Great strings, good high mids and quite warm. Even better than the swing bass nickels are the Roto's RB series which are just the same as the swing bass nickels, but no silk and 2/3 of the price

FENDER 9050 CL 45-105 SET.

Yes, these are flats. But they have growl, almost like a subdued Roto growl, when you push them. They are steel wrap, not chrome, so they don't go "thud" after awhile. The can growl, bark, plow any field needed, etc. and come back for more. The set I have on there is over a year old, and only the E string is just barely starting to show a little bit of loss of brightness.

I've played similar gigs to what the OP describes, living where I do just north of Branson, MO, and these do what he's wanting them to do. I know. I make weekend $$ with them doing exactly that. Yes, I've actually played Hank Williams (Sr, not Jr) on the same gig as AC/DC around here. I just dig in a little more. And that doesn't count the jazz gigs I also use them on.

The nice thing, when you back off, you're in "classic" mode as well: nice, warm, round, but NOT hollow.

Try Rotosound 77series !

Yes, FLATS bright enough for slap absent is the zing of a round wound but they still "ping" especially if you lower the action and use heavy gauge ( think Steve Harris)
Thump and volume easy on the frets . Feels great for fretting / hand plucking fingers . Surprisingly detune fairly well in the higher gauges

You can fake the bright overtone wash of a round wound with a small dash of fast shallow chorus added mixed in really dry

These are a stiff string so a light touch player may like them looser. ( lighter gauge)

Myself low action on my Warwick ( 50-130 5 string) med to heavy touch ; pick and fingers, a little slap
Patsy cline to pantera is the musical range

Oh did I mention they last nearly forever and get better with age?
