New Strings & Set-ups

What sorts of string changes require a new set-up? Gauge, type? I had my new SX set-up with flatwounds and I'm digging them a lot. I'm thinking of putting some on my G&L L2K. I'm also thinking of going up a gauge or so when I do. Will I need a new set-up?

I don't think you will know until you put the strings on. Different brands, guages, and types usually have different string tensions, but sometimes no setup changes are necessary.

If you go up in gauge or tension, chances are you will need a new setup. Probably just a truss rod adjustment, maybe you might want to lower the action a little, maybe not. Definitely you'll need re-intonation, though.
