New Strings for Warwick Corvette $$? DR? Warwick?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had my Warwick Corvette $$ 4 string for awhile now (2+ years) and have never changed the strings on them...yea, I know. I'm going to record soon and my band suggested putting some new strings on them.

Should I stick to the same strings it came with?
Warwick Black Label strings: 4-string: 045" - 105" (40200M)

or I'm thinking of trying something new too. I've heard good things on DR High Beams and Dean Markley sr2000s...

I am totally clueless on strings and would love some input on these strings and suggestions!

My band is indie/rock and I'm a fan of Paul McCartney and Will Lee's tone. I usually play with a pick, sometimes fingerstyle, and don't do too much slap/pop, but I'm looking for something versatile.

IMHO you cant go wrong with DR strings. Besides, if you dont like a set yopu can try something else.

I never liked Warwick strings. I only use DR Hi-Beams.

Warwick's have that nice growl. DR Nickel Lo Riders have that nice growl. Put the two together!

I used dr black beauties a couple of times on my ernieballs... i found them to be treble oriented... I've also used ernieball slinkys, regular slinkys, and power slinkys... good strings but also a bit bright... DRs are really good, not too harsh or mellow sounding either. You can't go wrong with Sadowskys either. I'm using sadowskys now and can't recommend them enough, black label specifically. They offer them in 35scale as well.

The warwick brand strings are good with warwicks. Kind of rough like Rotosounds. And without the wrap on strings which is crucial if it has warwick two peice bridge like my corvette had. Couldnt put most other brands strings on it without taking a metal file to the thing to widen slots enough to accept other strings. Common problem with warwick bridges unless theyve changed that.
