New strings for a Yamaha

Im new to playing bass, and picked up a model TRB-Q and havent changed the strings yet. Im going to have it setup and i need to choose strings. I dont know one from another, any ideas ? Thanks.

I play mostly rock, metal, and funk, and I like Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky. But you should really search the threads--there are dozens of informative conversations about strings on TB. Indicating what kind of music you like to play would be helpful too.

Thanks for the response. Ive only been playing a short time so im studying more then playing, but im playing mostly blues stuff along with some funk. as far as sound i want good slap response if i can get it. thanks.
