OK, I know that I'm not adding anything earthshattering to the discussion of flats on Rics, but I had to post anyway. My wife bought me a Ric 4003 for our anniversary last year. I don't like rounds and immediately put a set of Roto 77s on the bass. I liked the way they sounded, but the tension was too high and the nex started to bow. I replaced them with rounds, but was never happy with the tone. Finally, I took the advice of many on this site who, in a number of threads, recommended TIs on a Ric. I ordered a set and they went on last week. I absolutely love them. I roll the tone know off and it sounds nice and thumpy. For those considering TIs for their Ric, go for it. |
