New tuning

Hi,

In my band we used to use drop-D tuning, so I would tune the bass A-D-A-D-G, so I could play really low notes, and also follow the guitars when needed. Now we have changed to drop-C tuning. So I was thinking about tuning my bass G-C-G-C-F, but would this be taking it too far? Will it be too much low-end so it'll just sound like a mess? And what kind of strings would you people recomend? I've been using drop-C tuning so far, but I was wondering if this would actually work out?

There's a few guys on here who use basses tuned to a low C#, so I suppose you can do it.

I've gone even farther in Drop B/F# F# B F# B E [A] on my old five and my six. I used two B strings, one for the actually B, and one for the low F#. The F# was floppy, and I'd suggest getting maybe a .145 and tune that to G. Then a .130 or .125 for the C, and go from there.
