New Warwick - String Question

Sign in to disble this ad
OK, so I just got a Warwick Corvette Standard 5 string, and I dislike the Warwick strings. I'm a big fan of round-core DR strings (High Beams and Fat Beams). However, one quick look at the bridge let's me know that I need tapered strings, at least for the B.

I'm thinking of just having DR send me a fiver set with a lighter guage B. I just love them DR's playability, sound and last-ability wise. Sounds good? Any comments? Can anyone recommend something better in the area of round-core strings for a Warwick?

Tks.

i used Slinky's...just because I prefer nickel coated.

a note on the warwick bridges... they break strings... if there is a burr anywhere it will wear away and break the strings.

over the years (i don't own the bass anymore)...i bought extra saddles so i could sand them down to remove burrs on the saddle as well.

great bass..that was the only problem, and the input jacks are a little shady.

i don't know if taperwounds would fix or irritate that problem with the bridge though.

i now use DR Sunbeams and love em! on my Lakland 55-01
