newb needs help

hey, im new to the forums and playing bass, i played guitar for about a year than decided to make the switch to bass, a few days ago i bought my first one, an olp MM2, its prettyn sick but after a day or 2 i experienced some fret buzz around the second fret of every string so i took of the strings and were attempting to put them back on but my bass is very different from my guitar in the way the strings turn to tune so when i put the strings back on i must have screwed something up because now when i play the strings open there is an extreme buzz and you can't even hear the note so i need help on how to properly put bass strings on the right way, my guitar is the olp mm2, so if anyone has the bass or knows how to put the strings on properly i could really use your help.

i just tried what the site said and still no-go, its like the string is on about thew first 5-6 frets so when i pluckl it sounds like a drummer hitting a symbol, i don't know what to do i guess i could take it to a guitar shop and let them handle it, im so confused. i know its a four in-line headstock but the strings just sound like ****

Are you tuning the strings up to the proper pitch? Are you using an electronic tuner? Maybe your strings are not tuned to the correct pitch and not tight enough to bow the neck into its proper position.

yea i have no clue since im new to bass, the music store by my house tunes your guitars for free so i might just take it there

hey, i talked to one of my friends today and he said that taking the strings off could screw up my bass, i think he could be ****in with me but i am new to bass and don't know, what do you guys think, also what kind of strings would be better for a beginner nickelwound or flat?

when your fretting watch where your fingers are. when i play guitar, it doesnt seem to matter where my fingers are between the fret but on a bass, your fingers have to be as close to the fret as possible. if they are back to far (closer to the fret closest to the head) you will get a buzz. maby your not used to this since you play guitar

But he sead on and open string. Sounds like to loose or neck needs some relief.
