Question Newbie string question

Sign in to disble this ad
I own an Epiphone Standard V Bass
I haven't owned it long and have yet to change the strings but I don't know what to get. I'm not as failure with all the aspects of bass strings and what not. I know I much preferred the thinner gauge [[I'm guessing]] strings my friend was using. What should I be looking for in strings as a metal bassist?

it is all preference, and how low you tune. the lower you tune the bigger string you need to keep the tension on the string to stay in that tuning. also the gauging of the strings may change regardless because most companies put light gauge strings on their basses before they leave the factory. i would try out or d'addario strings they have a wide variety of different types and are reasonably priced. i personally use roto sound.
