Nickel Bronze .165 F# for 7 String Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I just ventured into the ERB world with a Conklin GT-7 that I got at a really good price. It's currently strung with Snakeskins which I believe are SIT Power Steels. I prefer Nickel strings over SS so I'm going to order the Power Wound Nickel Six string set but still need a the low F# (.165). Who makes one in nickel as all I'm finding are SS?

Did you check Conklin on-line? I order my strings direct from them. They have individual strings of various sizes.

What they show on their site is Power Steel strings.

This is why I love TB so much. What an impressive selection to choose from. I'll be contacting you shortly, thanks.

Truthfully, I think you'll find that 0.165 is a little light for an F# string, especially with a 34" scale.

Take a look at Skip's (Circle K Strings) Balanced Sets.

That's what I have on right now and the tension seems fine. Think I'm going to order the Circle K Balanced Standard 158 set as I prefer a lighter gauge, that might do the trick:

.158 - .118 - .088 - .064 - .046 - .033 - .022p
