Have to say, flats on a Modulus seems a real shame. I had a Modulus 5 for years, before I started playing Pedullas, they are awesome basses with with awesome sound don't kill it with flats.

alright.

I thought I would give some break for my fingertips.

So, what would you recommend? I'm tired of XL's though I have to admit I love the "piano sound"

anything slightly different than XL - but nothing awfully bad.

It's easier for guitar players to try different type of strings.

thanks for the input.

How about some nice DR coated strings. Great sound and easy on the fingers, plus the come in some awesome colors. I used the Neon pink on my GL Jazz for a while and I really loved the way they looked with the black body and maple fretboard. You are not going to get that stainless zing, but they are really nice to play.

for some reason I don't like the feeling of coated (anything coated )

at least I used DR strings on my electric guitar and I didn't like the feeling of coat. too plasticy?

and the strings should be nickel...

I guess that's it. I might go again with XLs... SAVE ME....

Ok, try the Circle K's they are a steel/nickle alloy and they have balanced tension sets that are really great. To me, they are closer to nickle sounding than steel, but definitely in the middle of the two somewhere.

I use TI jazz flats on my Modulus Q5 fretless.

Might want to query the Mob.

My fave strings for my Q5's were DR Hi Beam Nickels. Sounded excellent. Lo Rider Nix work well also.

TI's. The only other nickel flats I know of are Pyramids. Don't pay any mind to mdogs, if you want to do it, do it. I think a Modulus with flats would sound pretty awesome.

Right, the only one I've found are Pyramids and they are hard to find and darn expensive!

I think I will try DR SUNBEAMS.

Agreed. But Flats are the flavor of the month, so why not try 'em? Heck, I put black plastic tape-wounds on my '77 J bass many many years ago - looked "cool" but sounded like caca... But I had to find that out for myself.
