Nickel wounds, tight B&E for 34" scale. Sadowski?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm in need of some nickel wounds for my Bongo 5'r. I have tried the EB reg Slinkys, Chromes and DR Hi Beams. The B & E strings were a bit to floppy for me on all 3 sets. If I could find a set of smooth set of nickel wounds, that are balanced, punchy, bright but not harsh sounding, .050-.130, with a tight B&E for low action, I'd be pretty content. Any ideas????

Tia, phat

Not sure if you are gonna find a 50 in a 5 string set.

Sounds like you need a 50-105 set with a 130 or 135 single. I assume when you say you have tried EB Slinkies and Chromes you had a 45-65-80-100-130.

Sounds like you need to try Sadowsky strings.
Amazingly tight B and E.
Try them and you won't be sorry.

HMMMMMMM sounds interesting!
I also just checked out the DA web site, their string tension charts are very helpful. The XL 160-5's are .50-.135. I might drive thru town and see what the local shops have to offer. If I can't find anything today, I found a web site that sells Sadowski nickels for $30 shipped.

Yes, I have tried the Reg Slinks and the med Chromes w/ the .132 B. Both sound good, but a tighter B & E would allow me to lower the action.

Are they long lasting, or dead within days?
