Nickle v Steel??

alright, here's the bit. i got my beauty of a fender, and with it, i have D'Addario Nickle strings. i love em, except i wanna venture and try other brands and such, but these god damn things are expensive... suggestions! please!

DRs are moderately priced, $27 or so. That would be my suggestion.

You could try Ernie Ball Slinkys. I use the Hybrid EBs (nickel) and like'em on my jazz. Haven't tried the steels. GC sells the Hybrids for about $16 bucks here.

I actually just switched from steel to nickel. I like the way nickel dies alot more. Once steel dies, it sounds like a standup with fret buzz.
Also I like the punch alot more with the nickels. But I think that steel strings still have a place in my heart. Maybe more for chugga chugga death metal.

What difference does it make whether the strings are made of Steel or Nickel?
