Non-"Chirpy" ABG strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
I played a few ABG's lately that had only the piezo saddle pickup and roundwound strings. I was really disturbed by all the "chirp" I heard anytime my fingers rubbed the strings.

I don't remember distinctly where I heard it, but I recall a comment that putting tapewound or flat strings is not recommended for ABG's. Is this because of string tension, the piezo, or what? Is there any other way to get rid of the "chirp"?

Yup, too much tension to be recommended.
