Hey guys! just wanted to ask what strings you guys would recommend for CGCF tuning? what brand and Gauge would you guys suggest because the Fender p bass i recently purchased had light gauge strings on it and the buzz is horrible when i bring it down to CGCF im just curious to what brand and gauge would you guys recommend. i know you guys get asked this a lot but it would be greatly appreciated! thanks guys!

There are lots of different brands...

.120 .085 .065 .050/.045 would work out well for that tuning. Lots of brands are available where you can purchase the strings as singles to make this set.

As far as the string brand / type / style, that will depend on the overall tone you want and what is available in these sizes.

Most likely you can get a Nickel Plated Steel or Stainless Steel round wound in these sizes. Nickel will be a little warmer than the brightness of the Stainless steel.

Gotta recommend the Circle K Drop-Tuned 118 or 124 sets. Been using CKS for about a year and a half. They're my favorite all-around string.

If you're a stainless steel player, I'd suggest making a custom set of the Ken Smith steels like Jason posted above.

I've used 55-110 for drop C without a problem, same as Shavo Odadjian & Johnny Christ use.
