I know that i should clean my strings with a cloth when im done. but what kind of cloth? What motion do i use when cleaning it? At the moment i use a bit of my Pyjamas that i ripped off, and yes im going to get rid of that ASAP.

Will rubbing from the bridge to the headstock get all the fluff stuck in there? Will going from E to G get all the stuff out? What techniques do you use when cleaning?

I like to use a baby diaper. New, of course, but the old kind you had to wash out between uses. Very soft, an old t-shirt works well also.
I rub bridge to neck--works for me.
There is a company that makes a string cleaning rag, the same company that makes the rags in a bag for trumpets and other brass instruments,
They put a solution on the yellow rag and it works extremely well.
Just my opinion,
tummage
