Nylon Strings on a magnetic pup bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Are there any nylon strings with a metal core? I really like the feel of classical guitar strings and was wondering if there was something similar for a bassist without a pizeo pickup.

If there are not, are there any brands/types of strings that have a similiar effect?

'Tapewound' strings have a magnetic core and work just fine.

However, they will sound like mud. If that's what you want, then nylon tape strings will work for you (I tried them years ago because they 'looked cool'. Silly me.)

Greetings from the North,

No....they don't all sound like mud. Check out a set of Labella's. They aren't as bright as Roto steel wounds but then again they weren't meant to be. You can get some nice sounds from them.
