Odd question concerning flats....

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm playing a two string "slide bass" a-la Mark Sandman from Morphine. I'm using A and D strings and tuning them up to D and A respectively. I was using D'addario chromes because they have the mellowest sound I could find.

My problem is that I need something around 55's for the string in the "D" slot but there are no more 55 d'addario chrome singles anymore.

So, I'm looking for someone that can suggest to me a really mellow flat wound, that will take some high tension, and that I can buy in singles from some place like Just Strings or off Amazon.

I told you it was an odd question....thanks in advance for your help....

GHS Precision Flats singles sound exactly like what you're looking for.

If there's a mellower flat out there than GHS, I don't know of it.
