so i'm restringing my dean 8 string and when i bring em tight, it still sitting on the frets. the higher i tune, the tighter they hug the fretboard.. raising the action at the bridge did nothing. the neck is straight. the nut also looks fine

perhaps its because not all the strings are on and tuned up?

the bass has gone through a bit of a climate change, though i keep it as close as possible to what it was at. but like i said before, the neck looks straight. no bend or twist.

You're absolutely right. I encountered this one time with my P-bass. I tightened up all the strings (not to pitch) and they were all resting on the fretboard. As soon as I tuned up, everything was just fine.

In the event that this isn't the case...tread softly, I'd hate to see your 8 string bass explode on you
