Okay, so after much searching for the perfect tone and string, going through countless threads, reading so many opinions and reviews, etc etc., I decided to take a leap of faith and throw 50 hard earned dollars toward a set of TI Jazz Roundwounds.
All I'm going to say is OMG. These light gauge strings are so amazing, my bass instantly came to life, and that's from some midlife (and really bright) elixirs. All of a sudden my bass has HUGE fundamental low end, warm punchy mids, and smooth highs. Not to mention its like my speed and dexterity increased tenfold, no longer am I wrestling and fighting metal cables. the tone is to die for. I was worried about the gauge thinking I would have to completely change my technique, touch, etc.... NOT so. the bass like plays itself now. yes I play with a lighter touch but to GREAT benefit. The bass finally sounds like a BASS, not some brash guitar with ultra harsh twangy highs. These strings went on my fender jaguar so I can still dial in a lot of high end on the fly if I need it.
Ah... in other words, if you were thinking about these strings, and worrying about the gauge or whatever other reserves you might have, just DO IT. these are my new favorite string easy. I'm going to get a set of TI jazz flats for my P-bass! Now I have an idea of what everyone was talking about!
Much thanks go to Lokire as from what I can tell he is the main endorser of these strings on the forum and his youtube videos are sick, check em out. back to playing

You'll love the flats when you get them. They've been the only strings I use for almost 10 years on all my basses. |

The low tension takes some getting used to, and I find I need to play with a lighter touch (and I'm not a hard player to start with) BUT - they sound really nice and really respond to finesse playing. They feel absolutely lovely, unlike any other string I've ever played. Silky might be the word.
I too was concerned about the tiny gauge (.89 E string) but it's fine. They don't lack for bottom. After a couple of days playing they sound like a fairly dead nickelwound string - a sound I happen to like a lot. The only weird thing is going back to a bass strung 45-100... they feel like cables
I like 'em a lot on the bass they're on. Very impressed with the TI strings in general. |

I switch back and forth between 2 sets of basses.
2 fretless basses that are strung with very "soft" strings. A Turner Ren 4 with TI accousticores, and the above mentioned Lakland 44-02 with TI Jazz rounds.
2 fretted basses that are strung more conventionally. Fender Am Deluxe Jazz and a Lull MV4, both strung with Fender 7150 Med Lights, all nickle rounds. Love this sound on a fretted Jazz bass.
I never have an issue switching between the string types at all. The TI's never make the Fender feel like "cables"
Glad you like the TI's .. these folks really do know how to put a great sounding string together.
enjoy!

It is difficult to articulate what a good bass string sounds like and what a bad bass string sounds like. However, I think this fits my definition of a bad bass string. I may have to try the TI Jazz Rounds. |

They're definitely not right for everyone, but if you like a light, smooth feel, and a warm buttery tone, then you should definitely give them a try at least.

I'm a fan of both flats and rounds. I think it's 'all about the bass' for the choice of string. My Sadowsky NYC JJ4 just loves SS Lo-Riders (and I was never an SS fan). They sound great on that bass.
My newly aquired USA Lakland Bob Glaub w/jazz profile neck came by request with Lakland Flats. They are ok, but I found them to have a bit too much 'thud' and changed them to a set of Sadowksy Flats which I've always really liked. The Sads sounded and felt more to my liking. Last night I changed the strings to a set of JF344 that I briefly had on another bass a couple years ago. I was hoping they would still be ok having once been strung. Anyway I put them on the BG and they sound very good. I'm liking them quite well after only one day. The E seems a slightly less alive than the others. Also, I use a Drop Dtuner and hope this won't affect the life of the string but most likely will I suppose.
I am used to more tension with a Flatwound but they feel good on the BG for sure. I would prefer a .105 on the E though. So.. my request/input to TI is to make a 34" scale set of JF344 Flats in a standard .105 set.
Gotta gig on Friday, can't wait to test them out. |

The tension is a little lighter than the jazz flats
