The old guy
Just got a Ibanez GSR m20 short scale bass.Have a set of different strings to put on it.Is there some place that I could go to for instructions on that.I would really like to learn how to do that.I would guess if I'm very careful ,the worst I could do is to have the local store correct it for me.Does that sound correct?
I imagine there must be some videos on YouTube that show how. Check a few out, in case the first one is not great.
bestbassgear.com usually has some good tutorials and info in the blogs, there must be a basic string change/setup one.
There are many excellent youtube videos out there. Search "Changing Bass Guitar Strings", watch several of them and you should be able to decipher which ones are legitimate. Most important, it is much better to cut your strings too long and have to recut, than to cut them too short, cause then you're screwed. You should be able to use your old strings as a guide to help you cut them. Make sure you bend your string in the right place before you cut them to keep the wraps to shift on the core wire.
Plus: once installed, push the sting firmly down over the nut and the saddle, to get sharp angles.
