-one that you stored for months
Wash your hands before you play. Simple as that. I don't change my strings until they lose intonation. I've gone 10 years or longer on sets of strings on my basses.

Washing your hands does help, but only if you don't really sweat a lot. My hands sweat like a downpour, so that doesn't do me any good.
