Opinions on Rotosound Extra Lights

Sign in to disble this ad
I went in a different direction and bought a package of Rotosound Extra Light strings on my P-Bass. I did it because I remember Geddy Lee went with the Rotosound Funk Master series in the mid 80's on his Wal basses. I wanted to go more towards a treble type of low end. Not to mention it seems like it's a faster playing string set. So fire away you guys. Is it a mistake???

Thanks,
Rush Fan

in my opinion, mistake - i put rotosounds on the other week and only had them on for about 4 days before going back to my 8 month old elixirs which sounded equally as good but felt so much smoother, i think they coat rotosounds in sandpaper...

Rotosounds with the .090 E string is what my Ric 4003 wore. Killer tone, super fast to play.... I loved the match.

I stopped using Rotosounds in the late 80s though, thye had QC issues for a while. I still use Stainless rounds (nickel feels slimey and elixers feel like they are dipped in wax )... I much prefer DR Fat beams (or High beams). I also like SIT Rock Bright Steels and D'Addario Pro Steels.

James check this out, the RS 66LA pack on my P Bass I've got goes 30, 50, 65, 85!!! It should (I hope) compliment the 40, 60, 70, 95 Ernie Ball set I have on my Guild Pilot which has the PJ style PU's. I'm trying to get the P Bass less muddy and the Pilot to be like a Jazz.
