I've been toying with the idea of trying out some Optima Gold flatwounds, but can't find much information about them anywhere. I've done plenty of searching here at TB and on the 'net generally, but almost everything I've come across related to Optima Golds has been about their roundwounds. I'm guessing the flats haven't been around as long, and/or are generally more difficult to find. It will be an expensive experiment to try them out, so I'd like to know more about them before taking the plunge.
So, anybody who's used the flats and can describe what they are like -- particularly with respect to tension and tone -- please chime in. Thanks! |
