I, personally think that chromes are the least flatwound feeling/sounding of all flatwound strings. While LaBella's feel so smooth, and slick; chromes feel like a roundwound string by comparison. I've got LaBella's on my P and J and Hofner basses, and chromes on my Ric 4003. I'll never buy chromes again. Just my .02 cents

Just buy ADGC strings and tune them to EADG for less tension.

I am a big fan of the lower gauged GHS Precision flats- certainly not as loose feeling as the TIs, nor as middy tonally, but the next loosest flat set I have tried to the TIs and more traditional in tone.

Light gauge Chromes are really nice. At least I like them.
