I have a set of DR Highbeams (they are flatwounds) on my Nash 1957 Precision Bass and I love them. I use the bass in both my classic rock cover band and my jazz combo band, and the strings work equally well in both situations.

After using the DR Highbeams for a few months it will be hard to go back to the Fender flats that I have used for years.

My amp setup is completely different for each band. The classic rock rig is an Ampeg SVT head and SWR Goliath Sr. 6x10 and the jazz combo rig is a 1970s Ampeg B-15N.

I use Fender 9050s now. I've also used Rotosound 77s. Both flats sound great for that classic tone. For a modern tone, I'd have to get back to you about a P, since I use a Jazz or MM type bass for that. Anyone?

LaBella Deep Talking Blues on my fretless P. They sound good with the Bill Lawrence P46 pups

I just put a set of DR flats on mine. I had on a set of LaBella flats, but there was quite a bit of upper mid harmonics going on, and I was trying to get an old school blues / country / soul vibe. The DRs are very focused on the fundamental, and not a lot of highs.

I've had all sorts of strings on my Squier Affinity Precision:
D'Addario Chromes Flats
Fender 7250M Rounds
Ernie Ball Slinky Rounds
Fender 9050 Flats (currently installed and lovely)

I've had Chromes on mine for about a year and I love them. I'm gonna try the Fender 7250s soon cuz its time for a change, but it will probably be wearing flats again soon after that.

This. I love the 50-110s on mine. Means I can't play quite as smoothly and easily as on my other basses but that's not what a P is for imo.

This would be my vote also for roundwounds. For flats I'd go with the LaBella Deep Talkers.
