Question Peavey Cirrus owners....which strings do you use?

Curious...which strings do you use on your Cirrus besides the obvious. Will a standard set of say...Slinkys or D'Addario xl's fit...or does one need an extra long set.

I have my Cirrus arriving in a couple of days.

35" scale = Extra long set. DR is a solid and consistent set but my favorite has been the TI Superalloys...pricey but good.

Which DR set? Sunbeams/Lo-Riders

Lo Rider Nickels, anyone? That's the preferred set on my Peavey Dyna (active) bass.

Ragin...I guess its all in what your after really...you will find the good and bad with either... If I remember correctly the Sunbeams are more mid focused/punchy and the Loriders kind of scooped with deeper lows and higher highs (more slappy) but can dial in a lower action thus the name...the Loriders are higher tension If I rem. correctly...I always enjoy the Fatbeams and Coated myself...although the coated stuff is sticky and feels like a meat grinder at times.

I'm not a slapper, but prefer nickel or nickel coated strings. I guess length of the string is of concern, which is why I was curious if anyone was using a standard sized Slinky or D'Addario string. I guess they would work, considering I run the strings through the bodies on my Fenders.

I appreciate the responses though. Since my Cirrus is the Bubinga/walnut model, which has a middy/punchy tone, strings with a scooped sound may work well.

I have Elixirs on my 5 - they sound and play beyond incredible if you are into the modern sound.

On my 4, I have Sunbeams - very rich sound.

When I had a Cirrus 5er, briefly, I had a set of Lo-Rider nickels on it. They were perfect for that bass (bubinga/walnut/pau ferro FWIW). Very fat and warm, but they get an "edge" to them when you dig in. More than enough highs for slap, tap, and harmonics, but they were amazing for fingerstyle.

I only used one set on that Cirrus for the entire 9 months that I owned it and they still sounded great when I sent the bass to it's next owner. I usually used SS Lo-Riders on my other basses, but I could see them being too bright on the Cirrus. The nickel ones were virtually perfect though.

I may have to give the nickel lo riders a try, I love nickel strings. They're a little warmer sounding in my opinion.

DR Lo-riders.....mostly...right now it's got a set of Peavey "fly" strings on it..(they we 14$) and i was amazed to find the ball ends are almost too small...
I used Slinkys for awile but found the DR's to just be better strings for me

Well, after waiting on it for 5 days, I finally got my Cirrus. Boy did I miss having one...I waited a couple of hours for it to warm up (after riding in cold UPS trucks for a few days) and put on a set of DR Sunbeams. Very nice strings, and I think they compliment my bass well.

On another note....in case anyone is wondering...a set of regular long scale D'Addario XL's will not be long enough for the Cirrus.

I used that same set of Nickel Lo-riders for several months (and they did still sound good), and now it is wearing SS Lo-riders, and I like them as well. There was some kind of "woody" tone from the old nickel strings that sounded really cool.

Mine came with a very dead set of roundwounds, and agree that "woody" tone was pretty nice. Reminded me more of a flatwound sound than some flatwounds deliver.
