Curious...which strings do you use on your Cirrus besides the obvious. Will a standard set of say...Slinkys or D'Addario xl's fit...or does one need an extra long set.
I have my Cirrus arriving in a couple of days. |

If I remember correctly the Sunbeams are more mid focused/punchy and the Loriders kind of scooped with deeper lows and higher highs (more slappy) but can dial in a lower action thus the name...the Loriders are higher tension If I rem. correctly...I always enjoy the Fatbeams and Coated myself...although the coated stuff is sticky and feels like a meat grinder at times.

I guess length of the string is of concern, which is why I was curious if anyone was using a standard sized Slinky or D'Addario string. I guess they would work, considering I run the strings through the bodies on my Fenders.
I appreciate the responses though. Since my Cirrus is the Bubinga/walnut model, which has a middy/punchy tone, strings with a scooped sound may work well. |

On my 4, I have Sunbeams - very rich sound.

I only used one set on that Cirrus for the entire 9 months that I owned it and they still sounded great when I sent the bass to it's next owner. I usually used SS Lo-Riders on my other basses, but I could see them being too bright on the Cirrus. The nickel ones were virtually perfect though.

Very nice strings, and I think they compliment my bass well.
On another note....in case anyone is wondering...a set of regular long scale D'Addario XL's will not be long enough for the Cirrus.

There was some kind of "woody" tone from the old nickel strings that sounded really cool. |

Reminded me more of a flatwound sound than some flatwounds deliver. |
