Relatively new Bass player, loving it so far. I've got a Peavey Grind 4 String that I'll need to restring in the not too distant future (G is sounding a bit dead).
Any suggestions for the NTB beauty? Playing the round wounds that came with it now. Edited to add, anyone know or know where I can find out the gauges on the stock strings this bass came with? No luck in the owner's manual or on the Peavey site.
Thanks!
JW

Your 4 string has a 34" scale, so you can use whatever you want, but the 5'ers and 6'ers are 35" scale...require long scale - plus.

Strings are very subjective so I suggest you start experimenting and forming your own opinions. In general I would say that the ubiquitous nickel (or nickel-plated) roundwounds are the most versatile type of strings, as they are generally less harsh/bright than pure steel strings and are said to last longer (again that all varies with brands too)
You may find it a good idea to stick with the same gauge/tension of strings that came on the bass to avoid the possibility of needing to adjust your neck. |

I have the Loriders on my T40 and have a set of Dunlops on the way. Spend sometime on the string forum and you will see a lot of positive posts for both of these strings.

JW | I have one of these. The stock strings are .045, .065, .085, .105 and are stainless steel round-wounds.
They are beautiful basses, aren't they?

There are also HiBeams and Fatbeams that are stainless in the DR line. As I mentioned in a previous post...spend some time in the strings forum. (you will get an overload of info )

I don't play mine a whole lot, because mine is a 5'er, and I don't play 5 strings all that much, but IMO the Grind is one of the friendliest-feeling basses I've ever picked up. Maybe I'll pick up a 4 string one day, but before that happens, I'll have to lose some of the hardware I already own.
BTW, I'm using GHS Boomers, .130 for the low, but other than that, .45 to .105 works great on the Grind.

Love the neck and the overall feel and the looks are something else too.
Thanks for the info on the stock strings. Was thinking about some flat wounds to let my sloppy new player technique create less string noise, but may stick with round wounds for my first replacement.
Love the forums, great source of information and inspiration.

The sound and the feel are great. Flatwound convert for sure!
