Piccolo BEAD?

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to string a BEAD piccolo bass ((fullscale bass)), do you guys think that this...
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...ngs?sku=104470
+
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...Set?sku=100180

would do the trick? I have also been looking at these http://www.juststrings.com/lab-m20.h...hannelid=FROOG , but the one review on there and the thread about them I found here on TB doesn't sound to promising.

(( for reference, this is the thread I read concerning the la bellas La Bella Piccolo Strings M20 Darn high tension! Help!))

...I use the middle four strings of a standard light-gauge guitar set for my EADG piccolo. I would assume that the lower four would suit you fine for BEAD.

However, I'm using a 33-inch-scale headless as my piccolo - guitar strings may not be long enough for you.

As for the items you linked - no experience personally, sorry.

FWIW - if you're considering an octave above standard B your best bet is to look at the gauges you're comfortable with and use new gauges half as thick.

The D'Addarios seem a reasonable first go at your intention IMO.

I built a piccolo in BEADG and I use the GHS piccolos with a light gauge A or a heavy D single, can't remember which right now. Works fine.

Ignited, did you do that for standard scale or short scale? ((Not that there are many shortscale fivers, but I thought I'd ask))

standard 34", but it wouldn't really matter how many there were as I said that I built it .
