Pick use, w/ DR Coated strings...

Let me start off by saying, I'm a finger style player... but there's just a couple of songs on the setlist that need that pick tone. However, I'm worried what a pick will do to the coating on my DR Black Beauties...

It will scrape the coating off. I'm also fingerstyle, but the guitar guy checks out my bass and uses a pick.

can't speak for dr's (i've only used elixers) but it probably will scrape off the coating. i use a pick 100% of the time, and it takes awhile to get the coating off......

I just recently installed my first set of DR Black Beauties. I play finger style, and after only two gigs the coating was starting to wear.

Now at three gigs and a half-dozen group practices it's a big ol' shiny area down near the pickup and I'm starting to lose the coating where I do a lot of fretting too.

DR strings include a little slip of paper that says this doesn't affect the life or sound of the strings, so clearly they expect this to happen. I was just surprised it happened so quickly.

So yeah, based on what I'm experiencing, I'd expect a pick player to be seeing bare metal within the first hour or so of playing.
